confronted Today is the 2nd day I come here. It makes 2 days in row travelling early in the morning. Tomorrow will be the 3rd days and make it 3 days in a row I come here. I break my record of coming to the place that I love to hate. Yesterday I had a companion on my way back home. Today he will be going back with me as well. Yesterday the road was clear so we reached home 15 min early. Yesterday I had a meeting with Romas to sort out my letters. Romas took the chance to confront me about the things those have been going behind his back. There was no one to help me but I was not guilty by charge. He should realise how he had been treated me. I was not rude in making my 'complaint'. But I was practicing my right. I had been paid to come here to study, not to be treated like a donkey. Well, at least I get my point across. Do not fool around with me. If I think you are not capable to do the work I will say so, because the work is about me. How could you say that the supervisor does not necessarily has a related reseach to the student? Where on earth do you come from? Do you think because I am a foreigner you can fool me that way? You are no more foreigner than me! I was uncomfortable after the meeting. I have the feeling of being invaded and abused. The feeling of being upset. He is an old man. I never had any intention to hurt anyone. But life goes on. This will be a lesson for me in the future. One day somehow or the other, you will be confronted by someone as well. It is the way how you confront the situation makes you a winner of this battle. No harm of being polite. It saves you from having the unnecessary incidents. But in life I will always try to avoid a situation that lead to confrontation. Normally people have misunderstanding on my work. It just needs a proper communication and report procedure. It was o.k. in the end, I hope. Romas being an old and I believe a wise man, he understand the situation. In fact he needs to learn a lot more aboout being a supervisor, someone who has the hand on experience on how to handle a student. But I feel so sorry for this institution, it has a bad combination of lectures and students. They are both not polite to each other. That might ne the reason Romas was trying to back fired me. But I was not one of those rude students. South east Asian students are known for their politesness. Atas batu jemala patek@ 2004-11-30;10:13 a.m. |
